I learned young , about pain and abuse. It was kind of a family tradition. My mom is a wonderful woman. She was married young and my father was abusive. My father grew up in a violent household. my grandmother was an alcoholic and my grandparents fought constantly and that was passed down to all generations, like a curse. I met a man when I was 18, fell in love and had 3 children. several months into my first pregnancy, our relationship turned violent. .
(when we grow in darkness we do not know how to seek the light)
I continued to have relationships with abusive men for several years. It was a long hard road I dragged my 3 precious children around the United States trying to find someone and/or someplace better. Doing drugs and drinking, full
of anger and pain. I blamed everyone for my problems and couldn't understand why I was unhappy.
My childhood wasn't all bad. I had some positive influences, besides my mom of course. I used spend time with my aunt and uncle. I had have fun going to Sunday school and Vacation Bible school with my cousins. It was a lot of fun but as I got older I lost interest and got into drugs and alcohol. I dropped out of school and started running the streets.
I am 45yrs old now. my kids are in their 20s and I have 7 grandchildren. many years ago I quit doing drugs and had several years of therapy but I still was very unhappy. I got on medication and it helped, but again I was still unhappy. I went to several churches but just always felt uncomfortable and unworthy to attend. until one day God spoke to me. He wanted me to start my own ministry.
I of course was doubtful. I went over it in my mind until i finally said " After all i have done and been through in my life, why would you choose me. ?" He said " it is because of what you have done and been through that I chose you. who better to truly understand the needs of others that are suffering than you. all you have been through and you still have faith in me. you have trained all your life for this."
That was over 3 years ago. Now, I have found my purpose and I am trying to make a difference by serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
